Christian Werner is our Lambda Department Head and
Finishing Specialist.
Christian holds a BFA in Photography, has worked in commercial design, graphics
and digital photography.
Christian has been working with
combining beautiful portraits, vivid color, and surreal nature
for many years. Kodak EIR Infrared slide
film is just one of the fun methods he uses to bring his
subjects into "being". The sample shown here
is Model Dayna Jean shot in the gully of Sandy, Utah.
Christian stops up to f22 and underexposes
the film by -2 stop because
of the extreme sensitivity of the film. Filter experimentation
is especially interesting with the EIR film. This
portrait was shot with a '60s era rose filter given to
Christian by his father.
"I
love the way the vegetation turns
red from the infrared energy it gives off. I
think it is fascinating that there is this wave-length
of the light spectrum around us
all the time that our eyes can't pick up. It is
really fun to capture it on film and become aware of
this
part of the spectrum. The warm tones of the yellowish
skin tones contrasted with the cool of the blue sky and
the color of a person's eyes is
a fun exercise of palate. I love working with people
in a natural settings and electric color." - Christian
